All proceeds go directly to the North Wales Cancer Treatment Centre at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd, Bodelwyddan and the Alaw Unit at Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor where Mike Peters (a two times cancer survivor),was diagnosed and successfully treated for Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia (CLL) in 2005/06. Mike Peters is still undergoing long term maintenance treatment at the Alaw Unit with a view to finding a cure under the watchful eye of Dr. David Edwards who has been Mike's haemotologist throughout both of his cancer battles. Dr. Edwards will also be accompanying Mike to the summit of Snowdon. Snowdon Rocks 2 is promoted through the LOVE HOPE STRENGTH Foundation, a charity formed by Mike Peters to raise awareness and funding for cancer care both locally and globally, with a further series of world wide events that will continue throughout 2008. In particular, 'Peru Rocks', which will take place between October 8th and 17th in the form of a 4 day trek through the High Andes with acoustic concerts at the world famous Macchu Picchu Citadel and finale in the Peruvian capital city of Lima. Last year's event on Snowdon raised a staggering £43,000 (far more than Mike Peters ever imagined), and some of the additional funding was distributed throughout cancer care organisations in North Wales such as Ty Gobaith, St David's Hospice in Llandudno and St. Kentigerns Hospice in St. Asaph.

For my part I expect to see him at the Trowbridge festival ("village pump") and the Levellers gig at the Royal Albert Hall. As I've said before, it's very much worth making the effort to go out and see Nick live. He is a very accomplished performer and often is able to bring the songs to life in a way that transcends what you may already have heard on the recordings. Tour dates are here. Bring your friends! |
